Seriously, check how many times a day…start with an hour, how many times an hour do you say “I want…” or I think… or perhaps the most common one today, “I feel…”
So what’s wrong with that? Obviously “I have to speak from the “I” place, I AM a singular human being” you might be saying. Yes, true. Some amount of “I” statements are surely needed.
But really…do a check and see how often these phrases are uttered. Worse, see how often they are felt and thought.
Operating primarily from a place of “I” makes one self-centered. Literally.
Forgetting for a moment about what that does to our world – take a moment and imagine a world filled with primarily self-centered people…not a pretty picture! But put that aside.
Let’s just see what it does to YOU. When you focus primarily on your wants, thoughts and feelings you talk yourself OUT OF so many wonderful things to do; Things that would bring great joy into your life and into the world.
Sometimes we have to do what we must do in spite of the feelings of fear or trepidation, anxiety or irritation. If we allowed ourselves to do nothing that scares or bothers us we would do very little. (Read that last sentence again and a few more times until it resonates deeply.)
So take stock of your “I” statements and see which ones are holding you back from your highest and best life.
Which thoughts are limiting, keeping you stuck in a rut?
Replace those statements with: “what do I need to be doing in spite of this feeling?” or, “how is this thought helping me to move forward?” or, “is this even true?” or, “how is this thought, feeling or desire working for me?”
Be vigorously honest ,and you will break free from your self-imposed “IWant-IThink-IFeel” world of limitation.
Wishing you an abundance of peace, joy and love,
