Hello My Friend,
I always loved reading Oprah’s “What I know for sure” column in her magazine. There’s something so powerful about certainty, truth and confidence. [Knowing something for sure of course doesn’t necessarily mean it’s the Truth – ‘truth’ with a big T. But from where you stand when you know something works in your life, it certainly feels and is your truth.]
It’s a good exercise to sometimes, maybe even regularly – once a week perhaps, just sit and reflect on “what am I certain about?”
This morning I did this and here’s what came to me:
First, I am absolutely certain in this moment that I have breath. I am breathing in this breath of life and if all goes well, I will be breathing it back out. Knowing this for sure, being aware of it, is empowering. It’s a wonderful way to focus the mind and even calm the emotions. Because somehow all else pales in comparison to the power of that one single and seemingly simple breath. Tracking it from in to out…powerful!
By recognizing and being certain about one breath and not being presumptuous and take for granted the arrival of the next, you introduce gratitude into your life. It sure did for me this morning; As it has before.
So I know with certainty that I have this one breath. And, I am very grateful for it!
Second, I know that Love/God is real. In this very moment I know that I am made of love, I was made to love and I know that God is Love. I know this for sure. My experiences have borne this out. Love/God creates miracles and I have seen this, experienced this and sometimes I’ve even created this. By filling my heart with nothing but love – well really, my heart is already filled with love – just sometimes we forget this and pile other garbage on top of it, thereby reducing its power, but with a heart filled with love, we create miracles in our lives and in the lives of others.
Knowing this for sure can heal the deepest wounds. When you know that love is what you are, pain is put in perspective and even vanishes. When you know that love is what we ALL are, you can look at another, even one who is behaving in a way that you don’t understand and see the God/Love in them. We do tend to see what we are looking for.
Knowing this for sure helped me this morning to move past a small hurt that could have grown; Very powerful.
Third, I know for sure that I am loved. Absolutely! Thank God for that knowledge and sensation. It is healing I tell you! 🙂
I know that God loves me… God IS love and has infused me with nothing but love. I know that I am loved and lovable because I am made of love and made to love. Thank God, I know this for sure. The ultimate healer of hearts is love and this knowledge and understanding just put it all in perspective. With this understanding you become empowered to face life – all the bumps on the relationship road for instance, become smoother.
Even if you’re not feeling particularly loved by a specific person right now, if you stop to recognize that you are loved by others, you’ll be shored up and able to handle the challenging situation. Knowing that you are loved might even help you to see the whole matter differently.
It’s a very powerful bit of knowledge to be certain of, at any given moment. A quick recharge at any moment is to stop and recognize the truth – you are love, made to love and are loved.
These three things I know for sure have served me well. Try now to ponder what you know for sure – being as basic and foundational as I was, or not. Just site the 3 top things that pop into your head as the things you know with absolute certainty.
Of course it would be useful to challenge yourself to a proof. How do you know that for sure? Often we mistakenly believe we know for sure those things that we simply could not know for sure – like what’s in another’s heart and thoughts. Be vigilant about identifying the top three things that you can defend KNOWING FOR SURE!
Those are my three, what are yours?
Wishing you a magnificent day,
~♥~
