Hello Friend,
One of the most powerful success habits, for personal and professional success, is communicating effectively. In some form or fashion, we must communicate our ideas if we have a hope of getting support for them. In relationships, communication gives life and the lack of it can steal all joy.
The following skills are essential. Go down the list and see where you are…”E” for excellent and “NI” for needs improvement. Wherever you give yourself an “NI” make a commitment to improve that area with a 21-day program of awareness and daily action/practice.
For these skills to become second nature and part of your personal style, they must first become habits and then eventually part of your mindset and speaking style. For you to become a truly comfortable and natural speaker, your own unique personality must shine through. So don’t stop at habits…let these skills become part of who you are whenever you speak.
If you require personal coaching in this area, contact me and I would be happy to help. I have decades of experience training and coaching on this subject.
The FREE 21-day program – which you can customize to create any new success habit, including these, is available at JuletteMillien.com.
Wishing you an Abundance of peace, light and love,
~♥~
Skill E NI Tips/Guidelines Why Important?
Posture
To be effective you need to be relaxed and comfortable, approachable and NOT exhibiting signs of nervousness like small jittery movements that result from being NOT firmly planted with weight nicely balanced. |
Movement
Again, your goal here is to avoid those small nervous movements, pacing and unfocused ‘wandering’ around the room/space. Take charge of your space and ‘look before you walk.’ Be open to all listeners. |
Eye Communication
To be effective, you need to connect with your listeners. Engage them with your eyes; speak directly to each person; share thoughts as if it is a one-on-one conversation. |
Gestures
If your arms are doing repetitive gestures resulting from nerves or bad habits people will be drawn to that and not your message. Appropriate gestures bring your words to life. |
Facial Expression
We love smiles! When a speaker is relaxed, their listener is more likely to be. And vice versa! People are turned off to stiff expressions… animation is interesting to us humans. |
Voice: Projection
Variety
Proper breathing is the most underappreciated of the speaking (or life, really) skills/tips. We get energy, variety, volume, relaxation and interest from breathing deeply and consistently. |
Pause
I LOVE this skill. Turn it into a powerful habit and you will become an effective and persuasive speaker. Imagine this page without periods or commas…that’s your talk without pauses: a jumbled mess! |
