“A human being is part of the whole, called by us the “Universe,” a part limited in time and space. He experiences himself, his thoughts, and feelings, as something separated from the rest–a kind of optical delusion of his consciousness. This delusion is a kind of prison for us, restricting us to our personal desires and to affection for a few persons nearest us. Our task must be to free ourselves from this prison by widening our circles of compassion to embrace all living creatures and the whole of nature in its beauty.” ~ Albert Einstein ~
This unfortunate state of delusion can be triggered and is intensified when we get caught up in our personal states of fear, doubt, anxiety, stress and other states of negative focus.
This quote grabbed my attention in the wee hours of the morning as I sat in a beautiful hotel room – The Biltmore in Providence RI. I was reflecting on what the possible cause of my pensive and almost sad disposition could be. It dawned on me… I am – was allowing fear to creep into my emotions. Since yesterday as I participated in the orientation session for our youngest child who is going off to college in the fall. I got caught up in the web of fear and it carried over into my rest and began to chip away at my peace.
From fear it’s all downhill. We become deluded with this sense of being separate and apart, alone and afraid.
This is a delusion. We are created to be connected, to be love in action. Let me encourage you to avoid the prison of separate. KNOW what is real…and love is all that is real. Practice this by loving freely and widely. Love because you ARE love Not just because you feel love.
( Btw…Please excuse the mistakes in the post…doing the best I can on the road with available technology)
Practice compassion and kindness for all today; notice people and things you would normally miss. SEE with and from eyes of love and you will find the beauty in all you see. At the end of the day reflect on the joy of connection and compassion.
I wish you an abundance of love…in action,
Julette Millien
