Think about every great thing, accomplishment or memorable event (could even be when you made a mistake) you have initiated…take some seconds and think about this…what was your emotional state right prior to when it took place?
Did you know it would be great and/or memorable?
Did you have high nervous energy or a great deal of anticipation?
Were you completely comfortable about your part?
Describe how you felt about this undertaking?
This is the point I’d like to make:
I would bet that in most of these instances you went BEYOND YOUR COMFORT ZONE.
What does this tell us? It would seem that to achieve great things or make big memorable mistakes (in order to learn big lessons) we need to get uncomfortable.
So here’s what I would recommend – highly…LOOK for those areas where you are uncomfortable and MOVE toward them. SEEK out things to do and people to interact with that makes you a bit ( or more than “a bit”) uncomfortable. Reflect on this…what makes you uncomfortable? There might be your biggest opportunities for growth.
And furthermore, when we stretch our self and grow through love, acts of service, forgiveness, etc. we transform our world. The transformation begins with our self. Then it moves out to the various circles we impact.
Like a pebble landing in a pond, the impact begins with our inner world and spreads out to the entire world.
So, you want to impact the world? Do SOMETHING UNCOMFORTABLE and be the pebble in the pond! 🙂
Wishing you an abundance of growth through discomfort….:-)
