Hello! [This is a part of the 21 Days of Action & Accountability – a free event. Day 1 is Thursday May 19th and previous preparation exercises can be found here]
So we’re about to embark on a journey – 21 days of action…and we want to be supremely prepared. If you’re doing this seriously, to really get the most out of yourself over the 21-day period, then prepare at the level you hope to produce; that’s the best advice you can take.
What does that mean? As suggested yesterday, get organized, get clear on the goal so you can see clearly what you are shooting for and get an accountability partner so you can be held accountable for your intentions and actions.
It means doing more than a cursory review of these activities; it means doing them with your heart fully engaged and your mind completely made up to be productive at the highest level possible….and then even a bit more!
It means making up your mind to stretch beyond your comfort zone and do some things that are not part of your daily routine.
Today, here’s what I suggest:
1) Spend some time reflecting on your mindset as you approach this event – where is it now and where do you think it needs to be for extreme achievement? One thing we know for sure is optimism is the way to go…see these findings on the impact of optimism and negativity on workforce productivity
In my first note to you, I suggested you immerse yourself with optimistic stimulus – people, thoughts, books, activities, feelings, entertainment, etc, as you prepare for this journey.
2) Today consider seriously who and what helps you to be at your best and who and what do not. Make some tough decisions – over this 21-day period, can you remove all non-optimistic stimulus? If you can’t, can you counter the negativity with powerfully positive people, books, thoughts and activities? The point here is to guard your mindset. Treasure it and protect it. Keep it positive, optimistic and inspired. Anything bringing it down, cut it out or decide today to have a different response. I know it’s not as easy as it sounds but you having a commitment to accomplish it will make it tons easier.
Make 2 lists – one of those resources you can rely on to assist with your optimistic mindset; people, books, activities, connections, music, etc., and the other of the influences that are negative which needs to be weeded out and/or closely controlled.
3) Spend 15 minutes today in a relaxed – super relaxed and comfortable chair. Get your mind to be as empty as possible…using deep breathing as your tool.
4) Deep diaphragmatic breathing is what you want. Filling your diaphragm as you to breathe in more oxygen will expand your stomach area; so with hand on tummy you should be able to tell instantly whether your breathing is deep enough. If your stomach expands (pushes out against your hand) you’re good, if your chest expands and/or your shoulder rises, you’re breathing shallow and will not gain the relaxing benefits of deep breathing.
In this relaxed position, after a few minutes of controlled deep breathing, sit peacefully for as long as you can up to about 15 minutes.
5) Then immediately following this relaxations session, venture into some imagination playtime. Yes yes…I said playtime. Just go with me here. 🙂
Allow your imagination to visualize your optimistic state of mind working for you as you see yourself producing more of what you intend to produce more of each day on this journey…writing, helping, sales, studying, researching, coaching, speaking, building, bonding…whatever your goal is, imagine your optimistic self in a state of blissful productivity. Keep this ‘movie’ in your mind going, filling in all the details you can inject and keeping it inspired, light and entertaining.
Have fun with these activities, play full out and watch the amazing results flow!
Wishing you an abundance of success, peace and joy,
♥~
I would love an Accountability partner.
Hi Caren! Sounds good — I will place on event wall on FB — please check there for any responses.
Wishing you all the best, Julette
I’m so excited to starting taking action that I’m having a challenge focusing on deep breathing exercise — it’s very help though!!!
I know…I’m amazed each time I re-discover the power of deep breathing. A much overlooked ‘must-do’ for energy, focus and productivity. I know —soemtimes the excitement can make it harder to deep right. 🙂 That’s exactly when we need it too. Thanks Chris!
