There are 5 Vital Venus of life: Self; Home; Relationships; Work/Business/School; Community/POW (place of worship).
To live a whole, balanced and joy-filled life – no lopsided happiness or success – being kind and productive in these Five Vital Venues is essential.
The first venue is ‘self.’ Why? Because we can’t be kind (or be anything else) to others without first being kind (or anything else) to our self.
Here are ten suggestions for being kind to your self:
- Hug yourself – often and deeply
- Look at yourself in the mirror and say something nice and truthful – with a loving smile! 🙂
- FORGIVE yourself for ALL that you have failed to do or “needed” to do
- FORGIVE yourself for ALL that you have done (to hurt yourself or others)
- FORGIVE someone – Give yourself this gift today…get light, drop the baggage!
- Buy yourself a small and symbolic token of appreciation…for being a wonderful and kind person
- Take a few hours off from your routine and do something really fun and re-energizing
- Read a book that lifts you up; sing a song that picks you up; dance around the house with reckless abandon! 🙂
- Call someone who you know LOVES you and ask them to tell you what they love most…then tell them what you love most about them
- Sign up for a fun/hobby workshop
- Write yourself a love note and place it on your bathroom mirror.
Do as many acts of kindness for yourself as you can…and permit yourself to welcome and enjoy the kindness shown to you by others (this is unfortunately where many people demonstrate their inability to truly love themselves… when they cannot easily accept it (love and kindness) from others.)
When you think about it, these acts are not really selfish as they set the foundation for serving others – which is what life is all about: spreading love and kindness and being of service wherever needed.
So have some fun with these acts of kindness and create the powerful habit of loving yourself!
