Nine years ago (12/22/04) we had the m…ost unexpected funeral – my Mom’s, and it was beyond devastating. Since then it’s been a challenge to fully enjoy the Christmas season.
As I reflected this morning, I realized the joy snuck back up on me. This year was the first time I felt a complete joy instead of the partial, in and out kind of thing that I grew accustomed to each year. Joy does “come in the morning” and I am so very grateful for that.
My Mom was the epitome of giving; she had an unmatched generosity of spirit. She gave freely of her time, her treasures, her talents and her heart and she expressed gratitude daily.
I miss her, we all miss her but we thank God we had her example and her love for as long as we did. I am so grateful today.
In her honor I’d like to suggest a day of gratitude. Give gratitude to all.
*Say thank-you to your loved ones for being loved-ones
*Say thank-you to YOU for being a generous, kind and grateful person
*Say thank-you to God for everything – including health, life, shelter and breath
*Say thank-you to your children for the joy they bring – and for the challenges that have grown you over the years
*Say thank-you for your job and way of making a living
*Say thank-you for family gatherings and all the love
*Say thank-you for your parents, here or not, “perfect” or not (whether you are at peace with them or not – say thank-you, and do your best to forgive what might be there so you can be healed and whole)
Thank you for being a part of this journey with me! Enjoy this beautiful day of gratitude.
Sending lots of love ~~~ ♥♥♥~~~
