Hello My Friend,
The difference between these two words has been the topic of many conversations in our circle. People often confuse doing with being. They think for instance, that because a person is extremely busing doing this and doing that, they “are” what it is they are doing. For example, and sadly, the very busy person giving lots of gifts or volunteering here and there is not always the most kind and loving person.
Here’s the thing, you can DO and not BE but you can’t BE and not DO. Being is all about authentic living. Being what you preach is beyond walking the talk…because we can ‘walk the talk’ and be primarily doing stuff and looking like we’re doing stuff but really, we’re not being what it is we are doing.
Being is who you are through and true. It’s who you are when the lights are out. Being is becoming that which you are doing or attempting to be.
Often, people use ‘doing’ to keep themselves away from being – we stay busy with ‘busy work’ as a way of avoiding who we really are born to be. Perhaps it’s fear, perhaps it’s low self-confidence or esteem…but whatever it is, if you find yourself being very busy but still unfulfilled, chances are you are ‘doing’ as a way of avoiding your truth. You may be avoiding, very skillfully and with much exhaustion, your higher calling.
And sometimes we procrastinate as a way to avoid our truth as well. But if you stop procrastinating and become busy just because you feel you have to, you won’t get any closer to your truth.
Do stop procrastinating because you are being more aligned with your call in life. Stop because your integrity and authenticity require it. But don’t stop because you feel being busy is the answer. It really isn’t.
Sometimes just doing nothing is the best choice.
Are you denying yourself the joy of living your best life and BEing your best self by clogging up your life with busy-work, an overflowing ‘to do’ list and/or the negativity and “stuck-ness” of procrastination?
Determine today to focus on your inner truth of BEing by pausing, being still and reflecting.
Are you filled with joy as you work and after a hard day’s work? Maybe not every single day, but for the most part? Does your service to others bring you joy?
Reflect on these answers.
Reflect on these answers.
The real joy comes from Being and when we “be” the doing just flows. And so does the joy.
When ‘who we be’ aligns with what we do, that’s the space where our joy grows.
Wishing you an abundance of joy, peace and more joy… from BEing,
∞♥∞
