Hello My Friend,
This post can easily be lengthy because so much can be said about change and the challenges people face when they are seeking change in their daily habits and in their lives. Creating change, managing it and learning to accept it are topics we can spend a serious amount of time on…and understandably so! These are important topics.
However, this post will be short because we want to make one significant point. The title says it all; The single post important thing you need to know if you wish to be successful in your quest for change is this – What are you afraid of? What are your fears? Not just about change in general but even more specifically – what are your fears about becoming the very best person you can possibly be?
We sabotage great efforts and programs, we read every book on the shelf and we sign up for every workshop and conference yet, so many people continue to struggle with this fundamental issue: They are UNDERPERFORMING and basically feeling more like a failure than a success from day to day.
Yes, excellent personal habits are crucial and a positive attitude, essential. Having faith and a strong belief in what you’re trying to do…and WHY- a definite priority. Being focused, committed and accountable, no argument these are indispensable.
BUT…if you have it all and continue to struggle, and if you haven’t addressed your core issues and fears…you will continue on the rollercoaster of achievement. Your best self will not emerge ( and stay) through the fears.
So, ask yourself – what am I afraid of? THEN…Be still and listen.
- Over the next few days be vigilant in your awareness. Watch yourself. When do you get anxious? What happens right before you get anxious about anything? Which memories keep popping up in small doses?
- Record your observations. Commit to ridding yourself of all irrational fears – set a time limit that is at once challenging and realistic.
- Turn this into a project of self-love and genuinely look forward to the work. It won’t be easy. But oh my…the exhilaration you will feel when you look back and see that you have conquered your worse fears.
- For every fear uncovered, find a way to love yourself even more and also, show love to someone in gratitude for your revelations.
- Figure out a way to have fun with this. Seriously. 🙂
Wishing you an abundance of love and courage,
Julette Millien
