Hello Dear One,
Here’s a challenge for today…1) monitor the way you speak to yourself. 2) Wear a rubberband on your wrist and every time you say something negative, snap it! 3) THEN, find a way to flip it and make it positive…or at least neutral and/or factual.
I don’t think you need to be convinced about how negative self-talk destroys our spirit of hope, optimism and joy. But do you know that a negative thought actually produces a toxic chemical in the brain and it gets sent to our body?
Dr. Caroline Leaf says this about toxic thoughts:
“75% to 95% of the illnesses that plague us today are a direct result of our thought life. What we think about affects us physically and emotionally. It’s an epidemic of toxic emotions.
The average person has over 30,000 thoughts a day. Through an uncontrolled thought life, we create the conditions for illness; we make ourselves sick! Research shows that fear, all on its own, triggers more than 1,400 known physical and chemical responses and activates more than 30 different hormones.”
So will you do this little exercise to put an end to rampant negative self-talk? I sure hope so! 🙂
Wishing you an abundance of optimism, joy and positive thoughts,
Julette Millien
