You know how sometimes out of the clear blue you would start to feel something you don’t want to feel? This may be a recurring thing or may occur infrequently but it happens to the best of us. The most positive people with the grandest intentions have these negative intrusions…
Og Mandino in the classic, The Greatest Salesman in the World provided some excellent advice on page 80.
I’ve taken the liberty of adding a thought or two (in italics). Apply these and you’ll see the power of managing your thoughts and emotions.
- If I feel depressed I will sing: With joy!
- If I feel sad I will laugh: I’ll find the silver lining.
- If I feel ill I will double my labor: Be productive, persevere and never give up!
- If I feel fear I will plunge ahead: Boldly!
- If I feel inferior I will wear new garments: The full armor of God.
- If I feel uncertain I will raise my voice: In praise.
- If I feel poverty I will think wealth to come: I will IMAGINE and AFFIRM.
- If I feel insignificant I will remember my goals: And WHY I have them.
- If I feel incompetent I will remember past success: And in whose image I am made!
- If I feel doubt I will recall my faith: And know that it will all work together for GOOD.
Having a plan for when things begin to take a turn for negativity is smart. Try doing the opposite of what you feel when it is not a productive feeling for 21 days and see what powerful habits you create.
Yes, I know sometimes we have to let a feeling run its course, and feel our way through some pain. Those are the exceptions. There are always some.
I wish you an abundance of peace and joy,
